3-Minute Theory: Are You Born With It?
This episode pulled back layers on one of the oldest questions in psychology:
Are we born with who we are - or do we become it?
We explored nature, nurture, childhood programming, emotional intelligence, twin consciousness, and how life experiences don’t just shape us - they reveal us.
Here’s what we pulled from it - in 3 minutes, 3 angles, 1 insight.
MIND – Think
"Your genes load the gun. Your environment pulls the trigger."
Your DNA sets the stage - but your environment writes the story.
We talked about:
How 95% of our programming happens before age 7
How childhood love or neglect wires self-worth
How generational cycles pass down traits (and trauma)
And how even identical twins - raised the same - grow into different people
The lesson?
You can’t control what you inherited.
But you can control what you express.
BODY – Do
The Environment Audit (5-Minute Practice):
Ask yourself:
Who are the 3 people I spend the most time with?
What traits of theirs am I starting to adopt?
Do those traits align with the person I want to become?
Example:
“I spend time with two risk-takers and one pessimist. I’m becoming bolder, but also more anxious.”
→ Time to adjust the balance. Protect the input.
The environment isn’t neutral.
It shapes everything from how your genes express to how your potential unfolds.
HEART – Feel
Ask yourself:
"Am I living as who I was taught to be, or who I truly am?"
This one hit hard.
Because maybe we didn’t choose our childhood.
Maybe we inherited some of our fears.
But we do get to choose now.
To break cycles.
To rewire beliefs.
To lead by example for the next generation.
Self-awareness isn’t self-indulgent - it’s how you build a different future.
A Piece of Us
Rupert: “I’ve come to realise something about myself that I never truly saw before: the resilience and determination it takes to become an entrepreneur. For the longest time, I never called myself that because I didn’t think I had earned the title. I thought “entrepreneur” belonged to others—people who seemed more confident, more accomplished, more deserving.
But through the struggles, the processes, and the insecurities, I’ve learned something important: I am one. I’ve shown up, invested my own time and money, and sustained myself for nearly four years through my own effort and vision. That’s no small thing.
Looking back, I couldn’t be prouder of this pursuit—not just the achievements themselves, but the growth, discipline, and self-belief that came along the way. To me, being an entrepreneur isn’t about a label—it’s about resilience, persistence, and the courage to bet on yourself. And in that sense, I’ve been one all along.”
Konrad: “I got caught cutting corners last week… I know, that’s unlike me, and that’s the thing that disappoints me the most. I see myself as a disciplined person who never takes the easier path, but I did – and that makes the whole situation even worse, because what does that say about me?
At the same time, I’m glad it happened. Sometimes you need external factors to show you that you’re not being true to yourself, and to learn from it. I’ve made adjustments and, most importantly, I was honest in the moment – which made the whole situation better.
Regardless, I’m learning how to let go, I’m learning to take things day by day, and to do better. I hope I will...”
